Habitat: Coarse sand, gravel, and rocky bottomed spring runs, headwaters, small creeks, pools in mountainous region with low water temperature. Feeds mainly on invertebrates.

Range: Endemic to the Korean Peninsula: North Korea(Yellow Sea slope) and South Korea(Han River and Keum River). Introduced to Yangyangnamdae River(Yangyang County) and Yeongok River(Gangneung County) in the East Sea slope of South Korea.

Remarks: The Keum River population has a very limited range to upper reach of Moojunamdae River, a tributary to the Upper Keum River.
